Dickon Hayward studied architecture at the Manchester School of Architecture and the Royal College of Art, London. Before founding Material Works Architecture in 2019, he led award-winning retrofit projects at Studio RHE, including the Alphabeta Building and Republic at East India Dock — earning the RIBA London Project Architect of the Year award in 2016. Driven by a desire to push environmental innovation in design, he founded Material Works to explore radical, low-impact construction techniques. His studio recently completed Sustainable Workspaces, a pioneering, multi-award-winning low-carbon retrofit within London’s historic County Hall, showcasing a bold approach to sustainable architecture.
