Jake Oliveira is the principal of the eponymous Canadian industrial design practice Jake Oliveira Studio. The studio’s ethos sees deeply personal concepts smashed together with classical analogue technique to result in forms that are novel, instantly recognizable, and yet pleasantly functional. Oliveira’s designs are recognizable through their juxtaposition of architectural restraint and drama. Since its founding, Jake Oliveira Studio has collaborated with international brands — such as Boyd Lighting, A. Rudin, and Powell & Bonnell on a broad offering of designs including furniture, lighting, and more. A key fulcrum of the studio’s design identity is the contrast of material and form, where a playful curiosity and affinity for engineering results in designs that honour and manipulate materials; re-imagining their potential to awe inspiring effect. The studio’s products have exhibited in shows internationally, and adorn iconic showrooms and projects across North America, France, Germany, the UAE, and the UK.
