Emily Reisman is a planner and Partner with Urban Strategies Inc., a Toronto-based planning and design firm. She has a diverse background, including civil engineering and transportation planning, ensuring that the shared solutions to urban challenges are beautiful, functional and viable. Considered an expert in public-sector policy development and master planning, Reisman has applied her skillful policy analysis and nuanced approach to building consensus to projects large and small, for public and private clients and in multiple jurisdictions, for over 20 years. Projects of note include preparing the City of Toronto’s guideline document “Growing Up: Planning for Children in New Vertical Communities”; securing a new Secondary Plan for the future growth and evolution of the University of Toronto’s iconic St. George Campus; and managing interdisciplinary teams undertaking master planning efforts for major sites resulting in generational transformation, including the 200-acre former Lakeview power station lands on the lakefront in Mississauga, and the 520 acres of the Downsview Lands in Toronto. She has been an expert witness before the Ontario Land Tribunal and has secured development approvals for many private and institutional clients in the Greater Toronto Area.
