Fiete Schlüter is a dynamic leader who brings global perspective, strategic insight, and a deep commitment to design to one of the world’s most respected design brands. Known for his ability to bridge business strategy and design sensitivity, Schlüter continues to drive Vitra’s growth while honouring the brand’s heritage of innovation, collaboration, and timeless design. Since joining Vitra in 2012, Schlueter has played a key role in driving the company’s mission to create meaningful, sustainable environments that enhance how we live and work. He began his career at Vitra’s Swiss headquarters in Basel, where he developed a strong foundation in the company’s design ethos rooted in cultural relevance, enduring quality, and ecological responsibility. In 2019, he relocated to New York to lead financial operations for North America, and in 2024, he was appointed President. Today, he oversees operations and strategy across the continent for both Vitra and Artek, Alvar Aalto’s iconic Finnish design brand. Under Schlüter’s leadership, Vitra has deepened its engagement with the American design community through strategic partnerships, thoughtful programming, and a commitment to human-centered design. Most notably, he led the opening of Vitra’s new North American headquarters and showroom in New York’s Chinatown – a light-filled, architecturally rich space that reflects the company’s values and serves as both a workplace and cultural hub. Since its launch in May 2025, the space has become a platform for conversation, collaboration, and creative exchange.
